"THE ALL AROUND HORSE"

Anybody who has ever owned horses has owned that one horse that is just NOT FOR SALE.  Many of us as children owned one special horse that did everything, from ranch work, to trail rides, to arena competions we had that one horse we could always count on.  It is our goal at Whispering Willows Ranch to produce that one special horse over and over again.  We want each horse to be the best that he can be at what ever he is asked to do.

  Every horse is an individual, unfortuantely sometimes our industry forgets that.  One example of this is that some colts are mature enough mentally and physically to compete as a 3 year old in futurities, many are not!  At Whispering Willows Ranch the horse comes first.  We want each horse to reach the maximum of their abilities, but we will not force something that is not there, or the horse can not handle!  We make loyal trusting partners that give everything they've got to do the best they can, but we do that by only asking for what each horse is ready to give.

  Our horses begin their career being trained gently and naturally.  At Whispering Willows Ranch we believe in the foundation that natural horsemanship develops, so we start there, and then build preformance into our horses.   We believe a foundation can be built with a 2 year old, then they need to go grow up before we begin asking for more.   Our 3 year olds get trained on the working ranch, moving cattle, sorting, branding, and in the fall they go to hunting camp way up in the Colorado Mountains.  The working ranch is an exceptional background to give a young horse to learn.  While working the ranch, and riding the trails we remain focused on the specifics that will help the horse with preformance.  We use different working situations to teach the horse softness through chaos, collection through speed, and balance through inconsistentcies.  As the horse reaches the end of their 3 year old year, we're ready to start speeding up the preformance end of things, ie, rollbacks, sliding stops, turnarounds, cutting and fence work, and usually our horses are confident enough and strong enough to excel quickly.

 Our Horses are truely all around horses, from the show arena, to the branding pen, to packing elk out of the mountains, they have seen it all. 

   It is our goal that when we sell a horse it is the last time that horse will ever be sold.  As part of our program, when you purchase a horse from Whispering Willows Ranch the price of the horse comes with 20 hours of one on one training with one of our fine clinicians.
